Insider Info: Crown Communities is a Georgia based new home builder that ventured into Columbia, SC just a few short years ago. They brought their standard new home features that had rarely been seen or were totally different to new homes in our area. That includes coffered ceilings, tile backsplashes in the kitchen and vaulted ceilings in the secondary bedrooms. Soon thereafter most local builders followed suit to include those features. In 2014 Crown Communities was acquired by DR Horton, the largest builder in America. All indications so far are that homes built by Crown Communities are exactly the same since then and that they are run as their own company under the DR Horton brand. Crown Communities builds new homes starting from the upper $100’s to the $400’s in neighborhoods throughout the greater Columbia, SC area.
Headquarters: Conyers, GA
2015 Permitted Homes: 319* (Crown’s permits are combined with DR Horton)
Columbia Rank: 4th largest builder (when combined with DR Horton’s permits)
Number of Neighborhoods: 15 as of Spring 2015
What makes Crown Communities different than other local builders: They “stick” build their new homes on the construction homesite. They typically offer a refrigerator as well as a washer and dryer in their new homes standard.
Most common comment that clients of the Columbia New Home Buyer team say about Crown: “I love the open floorplans and their homes are so well finished!”
